When User Flashed Card on Exit Plato Reader, the Reader Responds with Only One Beep Sound

Problem (Issue) Statement:

When user flashed card on exit Plato reader, the reader responds with only one beep sound.

Description:

After installing the XP-M1000i door controller and completing the cable termination to entry & exit Plato readers, upon power up, when user flashed card on exit Plato reader, the reader responded with only one beep sound.

Symptom and Finding:

After hardware installation and configuration completes, user flashed card on both readers. Entry reader responded with 4 beep sounds but exit reader responded with only one beep sound.

Cause:

The DIP-switches for ADDRESS on exit Plato reader was not assigned.

Step by step guide:

  • To troubleshoot the exit Plato reader:

Step 1: Switch off the XP-M1000i controller's power source or disconnect the reader from the XP-M1000i controller.


Step 2: Open the back cover of the exit Plato reader.


Step 3: Check the DIP switches for ADDRESS setting. Ensure that the DIP switches for ADDRESS are configured to exit reader.

Step 4: It is discovered that the DIP switches for ADDRESS is configured to "0". Configure the DIP switches for ADDRESS setting to "1" for exit reader.

Step 5: Switch on the XP-M1000i controller or connect the reader back to the XP-M1000i controller.


Step 6: Test to confirm that the readers are working as intended. Flash an access card without access to the door on both entry & exit readers. Both readers should respond with 4 beep sounds. Re-install the cover for the reader.
