Description:

How to identify XP-M2000i and XP-M1000i controller board compatibility with different firmware versions?
Newer controller boards are using a newer Flash Chip SST26F032B component, which is not backward compatible with some of the older firmware versions.

Related Software:

NIL

Related Hardware:

  • XP-GLS230
  • XP-GLS100v4 / XP-GLS130 / XP-GLS130v4
  • XP-M2300i / XP-M2000i
  • XP-M1300i / XP-M1000iv2
  • XP-M4L / XPMF2D (Fermax) / XP-MF4L (Fermax)

System Application:

NIL

Symptom and Finding:

NIL

Cause:

Newer controller boards are using a newer Flash Chip SST26F032B component, which makes the controller board not backward compatible with older firmware.

Solution:

Firmware Compatibility Summary

  • Any firmware newer than the ones specified in the table above can be supported by both the old (without the new Flash Chip) AND new controller boards (containing the new Flash Chip).

  • Any firmware older than the ones specified in the table above can only be supported by the old controller boards (without the new Flash Chip).

Summary:

Step-by-step Guide:

  • To identify Flash chip on the controller board via board QC number:

Step 1: Note of the last 6-digits of the QC number for XP-M1000iv2 / XP-M1300i / XP-GLS100v4 / XP-GLS130 / XP-GLS130v4 Controller Board. These 6-digits will allow users to identify the board.

Step 3: The following table shows the QC number batch which contains the new Flash Chip component.

  • To identify Flash Chip on the controller board via Flash Chip component part number:

Step 1: Note of the location of the Flash Chip on the XP-M1000iv2 / XP-M1300i / XP-GLS100v4 / XP-GLS130v4 controller board.
