For first time installation of the xPortalNet software and initialize the software database.

Solution:

Warning!

  • Users are not recommended to run any xPortal software in Windows XP operating system as the system is unstable

  • Users are also advised to stop the xPortal Services before shutting down the Server PC to prevent any missing transaction issues.

Step-by-step Guide:

  • To run the xPortalNet Server to initialize the database: 

Step 1: To avoid any general exception handling issues during running the xPortalNet software, users are encouraged to check the xPortalNet software for any compatibility issues.


Step 2: Right-click xPortalNet Comm Service Controller desktop icon > Properties.

Step 3: Go to Compatibility tab, check the Run this program as an administrator checkbox. Click Apply and click OK.

Step 4: Run the xPortalNet Services.

Note

The Database Not Initialized Yet Message will only be shown for first time installation where the software does not detect an initialized database.

For dongle detection errors:

  • Have you plugged in the dongle license to the Server PC?

  • Have you installed the dongle license's driver?

Step 6: Run the xPortalNet Server to initialize the database.

Step 7: The following window will be shown. Users must fill up the Server Name and Password field with information from the SQL Server Management Studio.

Ensure that the Server Name is the same as SQL Server Name and password is SQL Server password.

Step 8: To check your SQL Server Name and password, open the SQL Server Management Studio.

Step 9: The following window will be shown. Copy the SQL Server Name and paste to the xPortalNet Comm Server window as shown in Step 7.

Step 10: Next, key in the SQL Server password and click Initialize Database.
