User Flashed Visitor Card Without a Specific Door Access Level but Still Able to Access the Restricted Door

Problem (Issue) Statement:

User flashed visitor card without a specific door access level but still able to access the restricted door

Description:

Site installed 8 lanes of bi-directional speed gate (turnstile) system at the building lobby to be integrated with the access control system and visitor management system.

2 of the lanes were installed with 2 units of exit reader (in the exit direction) as dedicated tenant's speed gate lanes for tenant users while 2 other lanes were installed with exit reader coupled with access card drop box (also in the exit direction) as visitor speed gate lanes for visitors with the visitor access card.

For normal operations, tenant users have entry and exit access at the 2 lanes dedicated for tenant users with entry and exit readers; while visitors holding the visitor access card can only access the 2 lanes with access card drop box for effective visitor management.

Related Software:

Related Hardware:

System Application:

Turnstile (Speed Gate) Access System & Visitor Management System

Symptom and Finding:

Verified that the door accessibility level for tenants and visitor are set correctly:

  • Door accessibility configuration for tenant:

  • Door accessibility configuration for visitor:

However, software recorded Valid Exit transaction when visitors flashed the visitor card to the tenant's dedicated lanes. The Valid Exit transaction resulted in the tenant's dedicated lane opening and allowing exit access to visitors, even though the visitor card does not have accessibility to the tenant's dedicated speed gate lanes.
Software Recorded Valid Exit Even Though Visitors have no Accessibility at Tenant's Dedicated Speed Gate Lanes

Cause:

SNET controller not configured to check the Exit reader time zone.

Solution:

  • Users are also advised to stop the xPortal Services before shutting down the Server PC to prevent any missing transaction issues.
