For first time copying of the xPortalNet Database Data files (MDF & LDF type).

Solution:

Warning!

  • Users are not recommended to run any xPortal software in Windows XP operating system as the system is unstable

  • Users are also advised to stop the xPortal Services before shutting down the Server PC to prevent any missing transaction issues.

  • To gain access to Program Data folder:

  • To stop xPortalNet Services:

Step 1: To close xPortalNet Server & Client if any of the software instances are still running.


Step 2: Right-click the xPortalNet Service Icon, click Stop. Wait for the pop-up message indicating that the xPortalNet Service has been stopped.

Warning!

  • Users cannot copy the MDF/LDF files while the database is still online.
  • This is the LEAST safe way to copy a database. Should anything happen to the files while they aredetached/offline, there will not be a way to retrieve the database anymore.




  • To copy existing xPortalNet database from Program Data:

Step 1: Go to C Drive: > Program Data > MicroEngine Folder > xPortalNetv1 Folder > Server Folder > Database.

If theServer PC isrunning Windows XP operating system, copy thexPortalNet database from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MicroEngine



Step 2: Select both XPNDB (MDF & LDF file type) and right-click > Copy.

Step 3: Right-click > Paste the copied files at the target destination folder.


Step 4: The following message window will then be shown. Click Continue to continue the process with the Administrator's permission.

Note

Please login as Administrator to provide permission to access the MDF and LDF files.



Step 5: Wait for the copying process to complete.


Step 6: Users have successfully completed the process of copying the MDF and LDF file type of the xPortalNet database.
