When Visitor Flashed a Visitor Access Card on a Tenant Exit Reader, the Visitor Access Card is Able to Trigger the Flat Barrier Turnstile for Tenant

Problem (Issue) Statement:

When visitor flashed a visitor access card on a tenant exit reader, the visitor access card is able to trigger the flat barrier turnstile for tenant instead of being denied access.

Description:

The designed turnstile access system for visitor management only allows the visitor access card to access all entry readers and the dropbox exit reader only. However, during the testing phase of the project, it is discovered that the visitor access card is able to access the tenant exit readers as well, which the visitor access card should not be granted access to.

This article will guide users to troubleshoot similar issues encountered at site.

Symptom and Finding:

Visitor access cards are not configured with the door accessibility level to access the tenant exit readers. However, when the visitor access card is flashed on the tenant exit readers, the tenant exit reader allows access to the visitor access card; with the xPortalNet software logging Valid Exit Transaction.

Cause:

After verifying the issue, it was discovered that there are incomplete hardware configuration to activate exit reader door accessibility feature on XP-SNET controller.

Solution:

Warning!

The XP-SNET controller will not send fire alarm signal over to the connected XP-SNET-E32R and/or XP-SNET-E248 extension boards if the configuration settings for the XP-SNET controller is not completed.

Complete the configuration settings for XP-SNET controller in order for XP-SNET-E32R and/or XP-SNET-E248 to respond accordingly to fire alarm signals.

Step-by-step Guide:

  • To verify that the visitor access card is assigned to the VISITOR door access level:

Step 1: Go to xPortalNet Client > Visitor Still In List, select the affected visitor and click Modify.


Step 2: In the Visitor Record window, check and reconfirm that the correct Door Access level is assigned.

  • To ensure that the configured Door Access Level is enabled for the visitor access card:

Step 1: Go to xPortalNet Client > Data Setup > Door Accessibility Schedule > Select Visitor and click Modify.


Step 2: Ensure that the correct Door Access Level is enabled for the visitor access card.


Step 3: Once confirmed, click OK to exit.

  • To activate check exit reader door accessibility via Web Diagnostic:

Step 1: Open IE browser (Internet Explorer) and type the XP-SNET's IP address in the address box.

Note

The default IP address for XP-SNET controller is 192.168.1.210



Step 2: Enter the Username and Password and click OK to continue. The Web Diagnostic window will be shown as below. Click Configuration to continue.

Step 3: Scroll down to Door Controller Setup section. Tick the Check exit reader door accessibility checkbox and click Confirm Change Door Setting to continue.

Step 4: Click Log Out to exit from the web diagnostic.

  • To observe the transactions recorded:

Step 1: Flash the visitor access card on the entry reader, the xPortalNet software will log the Valid Entry transaction.


Step 2: Flash the same visitor access card on the tenant exit reader, the xPortalNet software will log the Wrong Time Zone transaction.
