Description:

A guide to write / program Card ID number into DESFire® Card in xPortalNet HS.

DESFire 13.56MHz read/write contactless smart card contains a structured file system offering security for multiple applications and to support future growth.  Utilising Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) -128-bit, Triple DES (3DES) encryption or three-key TDES (3KTDES) the DESFire® card's information is securely stored in the card, ensuring that the card cannot be cloned and that only valid cards are granted access.

DESFire® technologies are part of next generation access control platform and MicroEngine's xPortalNet HS Security Management Software is ready and able to support the full implementations of DESFire® Technology.

    To configure DESFire Reader Setting:

Step 1: Go to Data Setup > Access Data Setting > Staff Record > Get Now!


Step 2: The Staff Detail Setup window will be shown. Go to DESFire > DESFire Reader Setting.

Step 3: The following message window will be shown to indicate that the software did not detect a serial port. Click OK to continue.

Step 4: The Reader Settings window will then be shown. Select "Third-Party" at the Reader Selection field and confirm the Model Name of the Mifare sector programmer. select "OMNIKEY CardMan 5x21-CL 0" at Model Name. Click OK to save the changes.

Step 1: Add a new staff / card user via the Add Staff Detail window. At the Card No. field, specify the card ID number to be programmed to the Mifare card sectorDESFire Card.

Step 2: At the Staff Detail Setup window, select the card user to program the card ID (Card No. in Add Staff Detail window) and place the blank card on OMNIKEY card reader.

Step 3: Go to DESFire > Personalize Card > Access Card.

Step 4: Software will begin to write Card No. into Mifare card sector. Wait for the process to complete.

Step 5: The Enrolment of DESFire card setting succeed message will then be shown. Click OK to continue.

    To verify Card ID is correctly programmed into DESFire® card:

Step 1: Place the programmed DESFire card on OMNIKEY 5421/ 5422 card reader.


Step 2: Go to DESFire > Read Data > Access Card to read the DESFire card.

Step 3: Software will begin to read Card ID from the DESFire card. Wait for the process to complete.
