Problem (Issue) Statement:How to reset the XP-M1000x Controller to factory default setting (ColdStart)
Description:If users forgot the Master PIN which is used to enter the programming menu for XP-M1000x controller, users must ColdStart the controller to revert back to Default Master PIN.

Symptom and Finding:NIL
Cause:For first time guide to reset the XP-M1000x controller to factory default settings (ColdStart).
Solution:

Warning!

The ColdStart operation will erase all the memory in the XP-M1000x and reset all the settings to default. Proceed only if you are sure you want to reset the controller to default settings!

Step 1: Turn off the power supply to the controller.


Step 2: Turn on the power supply to the controller again. The screen below will be shown and the red LED will be blinking for 10 seconds.

Step 3: During this 10 seconds period where the red LED is blinking, press and hold the ColdStart button at the back of the reader for approximately 2 seconds until the screen displays the following message. The controller will sound a very long beep. Wait until the ColdStart process completes.

Step 4: When the ColdStart process completes, the following Idle Mode screen will be shown. The following table explains the normal response in Idle Mode.

Note

Please check and ensure that the Mode jumper at the back of the controller is left open, which will allow the XP-M1000x to operate in controller mode instead of reader mode. After setting the XP-M1000x in controller mode, users can then proceed to enter Programming Menu.
