This article will guide users on how to troubleshoot the issue where the software transaction list shows Unknown Card Number even though the Mifare card has been programmed to the respective Card ID

Symptom and Finding:

The card number is programmed by the respective Mifare Block with the Card ID. But when users scanned the access card to the reader, the user is denied access and the software shows the Unknown Card Number transaction.


When users run the read card operation using the desktop programmer, the software is able to identify the Card ID as shown in the message below:

Cause:The Read Mode selected in the System Properties is Card Serial No. instead of the programmed Card ID.

  • Users are not recommended to run any xPortal software in Windows XP operating system as the system is unstable

  • Users are also advised to stop the xPortal Services before shutting down the Server PC to prevent any missing transaction issues.

Step-by-step Guide:
  • Configuring Mifare Card Options under System Properties:

Step 1: Go to xPortal3000 Client > Control Panel > System Properties. The System Properties window will be shown. Click Modify Mifare Card Options tab

Step 2: The Edit System Properties window will then be shown. At the Read Mode field, select "By Block". users should then configure the Read Key and Write Key according to the keys used when programming the Mifare card. Click OK to save the changes.
