Problem (Issue) Statement:

How to troubleshoot the issue where XP-M1000X (connected to xPortal3000) is unable to read the flashed card and does not respond with any beep sound

Description:

Even after flashing a valid card to the XP-M1000X controller that is connected to xPortal3000 software, the controller is unable to read or detect the flashed and does not respond with any beep sound.

Symptom and Finding:

When users flashed a valid access card to the XP-M1000X controller connected to xPortal3000 software, the controller cannot read the flashed card. It seems like the controller is unable to detect the flashed card, and does not respond with any beep sound.

Cause:

  • The Door Setup in xPortal3000 software is not configured correctly
  • The reader selector jumper is not shorted
  • The flashed card is faulty
  • The controller may experience some interference issues if the In and Out controllers are installed back-to-back on the same wall

  • Users are not recommended to run any xPortal software in Windows XP operating system as the system is unstable

  • Users are also advised to stop the xPortal Services before shutting down the Server PC to prevent any missing transaction issues.

  • To troubleshoot and solve the issue:

Step 1: Go to xPortal3000 Client > Control Panel > Door Settingselect the affected door > Modify. The Edit Door Window will then be shown. Ensure that the Reader Type selected is "MicroEngine A10". Click OK to save the changes.

Step 2: Go to xPortal3000 Client Device Comm Send Door Setting select the affected controller Send All Setting. Wait for the send data process to be completed.

Step 3: Flash the card to the controller again and see if the reader responds to the flashed card.

Step 4: If the issue still persists, remove the controller from the housing. Check and ensure that the Reader Selector jumper is shorted to enable the internal reader.

Step 5: If the issue still persists, try to flash a different access card to the controller to ensure that the access card is not faulty.

Step 6: If the In and Out controllers are installed back-to-back on the same wall, remove the controller from the housing and proceed to flash the card with the controller removed from the housing. This will ensure that the controller will not be interfered with the corresponding controller at the back of the wall.

Step 7: If all the above steps are followed, but the issue still persists, send the controller back to MicroEngine office for checking and repairs.
